Hi! Welcome, welcome!!
Today I’m going to show you around my home for the holidays!
I’ve been enjoying decorating my house for Christmas for the past few years…slowly and steadily. 🙂
Every year I add in a few more things, and it’s so fun to watch it evolve. I really love investing in things that I can use for years and years, so IÂ try to not succumb to the Target dollar section temptation too often (I definitely do sometimes) and instead buy things that I can keep in my family for decades. I’m loving this year in our beautiful home. It’s the first year that both boys have been in their own bedrooms (Milo’s room is decorated and Dayton’s is aaaalmost there), and so there’s this sense of completion to the home right now. Anyway, that seems to make it extra fun to start thinking about what I want my holiday decorations to look like each year, and finding certain things that will go in the same place in my home each Christmas.
This year the new addition was monogrammed stockings for our fireplace. Eeeks! I love them so much!
Anyway, you’ll see zero pictures of the outside of my house. I still haven’t gotten the energy to get that decorated. I will eventually I’m sure, and the same goes for the bedrooms (I love the idea of putting a few little mini Christmas trees in the boys rooms each year and getting some beautiful holiday decor in my own room), so stay tuned for next year when I gradually add to the collection.
But for 2022, here’s my holiday home!
Welcome in!
I have a Christmas candle burning, some instrumental Christmas music playing all day long. Want a cup of tea? I just got this maple espresso black tea at Trader Joe’s, and it’s the perfect little late morning caffeine pick-me-up for the season.
^ My one and only exterior decoration this year.
I have a few little things in my office to make it feel Christmas-y. Last year I put a full size Christmas tree in here, and I miss it this year! (I surrendered it to the boys playroom…but next year I’m either getting another one or stealing it back.)
Every time Milo sees this little Christmas tree cookie jar he says, “mommy can I see what’s inside?!” and every time he’s disappointed that it’s empty. Haha. Sorry, kiddo.
A cozy little office with some Christmas lights.
…and a nativity scene.
A simple string of lights in the downstairs playroom.
I looove our tree! I put it up in early November each year because it make the house look so beautiful.
I really wish it was socially acceptable to keep it up year-round.
Aww! I ordered this on Etsy in 2016 right after Nate proposed to me.
We got this in Liverpool in 2020.
Haha, one of my favorite vintage ornaments on the tree.
Some beautiful new holiday throw pillows. I love this sweet reminder pillow.
Dayton’s nativity scene.
I keep this little leather book full of all of our holiday cards from previous years.
^2019! Milo’s first Christmas.
^ And 2021. Dayton boy’s first Christmas!
^ A few years ago my mom said she wanted me to pick out a nativity set on Etsy that would be my family’s nativity set. I looked for hours, finding all of these gorgeous, minimalist glass designs…and then I realized that I’ll have babies/young kids in my house for the next decade, so I’d better get something sturdy. Ha. So I picked this wooden set.
Those three little gnomes on the right are Dayton’s favorite Christmas decoration. He runs and grabs the smallest one and tackles it to the ground, then snuggles it and laughs. And I put it back and he does it again. Quite a hoot, I tell you.
Our new monogrammed stockings! Milo picked out his (penguin) and Dayton’s (snowman).
I love my cozy living room during the Christmas season.
Our fireplace renovation is my favorite little corner of the living room.
Milo’s advent calendar! Every day he opens a drawer and gets another tiny ornament out to hang on his tree.
Poweder bath..
^ Haha, please note the absence of ornaments on the bottom half of the tree. Tell me you have a 1-yr-old in the house without telling me you have a 1-yr-old in the house..
And then if you want to come upstairs…
Here’s the little tree that I gave up from my office so the boys could have one upstairs outside their bedrooms. Milos says it’s “Milo and Dayton’s tree.”
But then also he made sure I put all of the ornaments on the top half of the tree so his little brother wouldn’t pull them down. So…whose tree is this, really? 😉
And that’s my Christmas home! It’s so cozy in here, and I love spending the evenings with my fam, all snuggled up and watching Christmas movies and litstening to carols.
‘Tis the season for togetherness. I’m super thankful for this home and family of mine.
