It’s Baby Week! Here’s How I’m Getting Ready

I’m 3 days from my due date! When someone asks me, “did pregnancy fly by?” my answer is HELL NO. It was long. I’ve been pregnant essentially all of 2019, haha. The day I found out I was pregnant feels like years ago.. BUT we’re in the home stretch right now, and I’m in the stage of life where I wake up every morning feeling this nervous/excited anticipation wondering, “will today be the day?” (Ooof…or maybe I still have a couple weeks to go? Who knows?!)

Nate and I are finishing up the last-minute preparations for the baby! Our master bedroom will be his nursery for the first few months, and during that time we’ll get his upstairs nursery prepared. (I figure I won’t want to be climbing stairs for his nighttime feedings at the beginning, you know?)

Here’s my final checklist for getting ready before this baby arrives:

  • Cleaning! Y’all know that I love having my personal space tidy, crisp, clean, and smelling nice. I’ve been using Art of Green® products for several months now, and I loooove how they smell! Plus, they’re non-toxic and safe to use around kids + pets, so win-win. Here’s a coupon to save $1.00 off your Art of Green purchase!
  • Rest. This is the #1 recommendation that y’all have given to me on instagram in regards to preparing for a baby, and I’m taking it to heart. I’m reading a lot of good books, lounging on the couch and watching movies when that sounds fun, sleeping in when my body lets me, and appreciating that Nate is cooking dinner for me.
  • Digital preparation. This means getting email lists ready for the baby announcements, creating the texting thread so Nate can keep extended family updated when labor begins, setting up an out-of-office email message, and tying up loose ends on social media/blog. The digital world is such a big component of my everyday life, so making sure everything is tidy there is helpful in knowing that I’ll be able to relax when the baby is here.
  • Ok, something I thought I would be doing but I’m not? Freezer meal prep. Since my mom will be here when the baby arrives, and Nate will be home for a few weeks, and my mother-in-law is visiting in November, AND we have a meal train set up, I know that there are so many competent people who will be preparing delicious meals in the first month. I’m so very thankful to be able to let this task go from my to-do list.

^ My friends and family have made sure that our bookshelf is fully stocked with all the Texas books! Haha! He’s definitely going to be an Austin, Texas baby.

^ Haha…I’m pretty sure Storm is excited for our baby to get here so someone else can be the recipient of all of these kisses.

Oh, the snuggles!! I can’t wait to see my baby boy in all of these sweet little outfits I’ve been looking at for the past few months. Right now I’m washing his clothes, making sure I have all of the diapering/breastfeeding/general baby items organized and available, and just waiting for this little one to show up! I’m always wiping down surfaces with Art of Green wipes right now to keep everything clean and smelling nice. Here are a couple ways I’ve been using these products in my home:

3 Easy Baby-Prep Cleaning Ideas Using Art of Green Products:

  • My favorite product is the tub of cleaning wipes. I store them under the bathroom sink and then grab one when I need to wipe down any surfaces where I’ll be placing baby items (like the table right by my breastfeeding station). In the future, I’ll be able to use these wipes for baby books and toys.
  • Spray down counter tops with Art of Green Multi Purpose Spray. I have a Snuggle Me sleeper for my baby, and I’m sure I’ll be setting that sleeper on our big kitchen island from time to time while I’m making coffee or breakfast in the kitchen, so I’ll need a quick (and non-toxic!) way to spray down the counters and keep them clean.
  • Mix the multi-purpose Art of Green cleaner with water for an easy way to clean the floors.

Art of Green is an inexpensive cleaning line that you can find at HEB grocery stores in Austin, and I love using them because 1) they’re non-toxic and contain no harsh chemicals, 2) they’re INEXPENSIVE! Seriously amazing how accessible they are for people who want a greener way to keep their homes clean without spending a fortune on products, and 3) they’re made from ingredients that are at least 98% naturally-derived with no harsh chemicals, free of of parabens, phthalates, glycol solvents, and artificial color or phosphates, so I know they’re safe to use around my baby boy.
