Brunch at SNOOZE

Hey, Happy Monday!

I had such a good weekend over here. After a few back-to-back weekends of holidays, parties, friends, family, and non-stop busy-ness (don’t get me wrong…I love all of those things!!), it was nice to have a weekend with nothing on the agenda. I got to get myself organized, do a workout, relax and read at home, check a few errands off the list, and eat brunch!

The first time I went to Snooze AM Eatery was in Denver, CO. I had spent 8 weeks playing in a summer orchestra in Breckenridege (umm…best summer ever!) and was about to make the long drive back to Texas….but not before brunch! I woke up at 3 am instead of 5 am so I could meet with some friends in Denver for brunch at Snooze! I love my brunch so much!

I was so excited when Snooze made its way to Austin in May 2016. We now have two locations on both N. and S. Lamar (Snooze has 17 locations in CO, CA, AZ, and TX, with 6 more in the works!). If I were to compare it to a local Austin chain, I would definitely say Kerbey Lane….both but emphasis on their huge variety of pancakes, offer lots of egg dishes, and are family-friendly! The biggest difference is that Kerbey Lane is open 24 hours and offers more lunch and dinner options, while Snooze definitely defines itself as “An AM Eatery.”

One of the reasons I think Snooze is so cool is that they return 1% of their sales back to the community in the form of goods (pancakes!) and services. They’re interested in promoting education and sustainability, and along these lines, Snooze makes sure to source lots of their ingredients locally. Good job, Snooze!

Both Austin locations are open 6:30AM-2:30PM. When I’ve stopped in on a weekend, the wait can be 1-2 hours, and on a weekday the wait is more like 10-15 minutes. It’s just a popular spot! If you want to avoid a long wait, I’d recommend getting there earlier in the morning. (Haha…6:30 AM brunch, anyone?)

Snooze has some yard games like jenga and cornhole for guests who are waiting!

It was freezing in Austin on the day we ate here (<- ha…don’t get to say that very often!), so I started with a big cup of hot cocoa!

Side note: isn’t it funny how we love to say “the weather in our town is so unpredictable!” as if that’s something special…haha. I mean, sure, it jumps 30 up or down in a day, but I’m pretty sure the weather has done that in every city I’ve ever lived in! We all just like to think our city is extraordinary in the weather department 😉 It’s cool.

I was in a savory sort of mood this day, so I tried the Snooze Breakfast Burrito, stuffed with eggs, hash browns, black beans, jack and cheddar cheese, and smothered in a tomatillo-based sauce and pico.

No, I lied. That was Nate’s dish; I just ended up stealing some of it. (Don’t worry, he likes it when I steal his food….)

I got the Breakfast Pot Pie. Yum! Rosemary sausage gravy, flaky pastry, a sunny side up egg on top, and hash browns on the side.

Plenty of Yellowbird Sauce at each table!

Some other favorites from their menu are the Pancake Flight (3 of your choice!), the OMG! French Toast, and almost any of their Benedicts. You can even do a Benny Duo and do two half portions of any benedict on the menu.

Brrr!!! I always enjoy it when a cold front comes through town, then I’m just as glad when it’s gone 48 hours later.

I mean, the weather in Austin is just insane, right?? So unpredictable!  *wink*

Sending you love from Austin, Texas!

Kelsey
