ANYDAY COOKWARE REVIEW

If you’ve seen this durable microwave cookware around on the interwebs or social media and thought, hmm, I wonder if Anyday cookware actually works? then you’re in exactly the right place.

I’ve had a full set of this microwave cookware for about 18 months now, and I’m a little bit amazed at them. I got my in-laws hooked on it, I bought a set for my college-aged brother…I even have an Anyday cookware discount code for you, if you’re interested! But first, here’s my Anyday Cookware review, including a few FAQs that I’ve gotten on instagram.

I was introduced to Anyday when I bought a set for my husband for Christmas.

Granted, they were 100% his idea…I actually had never heard of this line of cookware (or even been interested in microwave cooking, TBH).

But Nate is a religious follower of David Chang (celebrity chef and founder of this Momofuku restaurant empire), and David Chang was endorsing these Anyday dishes…so of course Nate wanted them!

I started looking into them on Anyday’s website, and I found out they’re actually pretty cool!

Ok, so they kind of seem too good to be true, right? That’s what I thought too! I ordered The Everyday Set (you can see the prices here), which includes the Large Deep Dish, Large Shallow Dish, Medium Deep Dish, and Medium Shallow Dish.

I wrapped up the complete set all pretty for Nate to open and then waited until it was my turn to try them out. 😉

Y’ALL!!! We use the crap out of these dishes! It is literally no exaggeration to say that at least one of the four dishes is in use at any given time in the Kennedy kitchen.

We use them to cook our food. (duh)

We use them to store and reheat our leftovers.

We use them to make leftover restaurant food taste AWESOME.

We use them to make snacks for our kids.

WE LOVE OUR ANYDAY DISHES!

Is Microwave Cooking A Good Idea?

It definitely is. People worry about microwave cooking being bad for their health, but according to Anyday’s website, did you know that your phone emits more microwaves than your actual microwave does? (Crazy…) It’s totally safe to use this quality cookware.

(You know what’s not safe? Putting those cheap plastic take-out containers in the microwave when you re-heat restaurant food. Swap them out for these beauties so you’re not leaching chemicals into your food.)

Another reason I looove making recipes in the microwave is that it takes less time. Microwave cooking is FAST. Cooking time decreases significantly compared to using a stovetop or oven, which means I’m saving energy in my kitchen and using less natural gas and electricity. It can use up to 80% less energy to cook with the microwave than to use your oven, so cooking with the microwave is better for the environment.

What can you cook in Anyday dishes?

Your mind is about to be blown: you can cook anything in these microwave dishes.

Any food you want!

Go look at all of the beautiful recipes they share! From creamy mac and cheese to coconut lime shrimp, and even perfectly poached or easy scrambled eggs. These dishes do it all.

Banana bread made from Anyday Cookware

If you want to conserve energy and not use the oven, you can make things like banana bread (pictured above.) I made this in 9 minutes!

I pretty much always cook my veggies in the microwave now that I have these dishes. I love to do a sweet potato and some broccoli for lunch ( I’ll top it with an egg and avocado and then I have a whole meal), but any veggie cooks well in the microwave.

Chicken is also a great option for the Anyday cookware! You can throw a chicken breast in the medium shallow dish, add some salt and pepper, and in about 6 minutes it’s perfectly cooked and juicy. Really good chopped up as as salad topper to use throughout the week, or you can add some seasoning like fajita and have your protein for Tex-Mex night all ready to go, or shred it and use it in a recipe that requires cooked chicken, or add Alfredo sauce like they do in this yummy recipe and serve it on noodles…so many options.

Probably my favorite thing to cook in Anyday is fish! Salmon cooks beautifully. I’ve made this coconut poached salmon with chard, and it’s delish.

Since these dishes have a silicone gasket and an airtight seal, I don’t worry about fish making the microwave smell fishy. (And yes, that stainless-steel rim on those is microwave safe! The anyday lids are so cool.)

It’s also great for making grains, like quinoa or rice in the microwave.

AND (this is the coolest option), you can make one-pot dishes in your microwave. There are tons of recipes on the Anyday website that just require the one dish. You cook it in the microwave, throw the Anyday in the dishwasher when you’re done, and it’s the easiest cleanup. No cleaning the stove or cooktop, scrubbing pots and pans, and standing over the sink for 20 minutes after dinner.

Is there anything you can't cook in the anyday?

Cooking in the microwave is essentially steaming your food. So if your recipe calls for, say, caramelized onions or seared beef, that won’t work. The microwave just doesn’t get hot enough, fast enough.

You won’t want to cook anything that needs to be browned, seared, caramelized. Yeah, which is kind of a bummer, because that stuff tastes awesome! So I wouldn’t ever cook solely with the microwave (unless I was a college student living in a dorm!). We still use our grill, our stove, and our oven. Just not as much as we used to.

In fact, if we’re grilling outside on a summer evening, Nate will typically pre-cook the veggies in the Anyday to get them nicely cooked throughout (like, say, corn on the cob) and then he’ll flash grill them on the super hot grill outside to get a nice char on the outside. SO GOOD.

Can anyday cookware be used in the oven?

Yes, but we never use ours in the oven. We just have a lot of other shallow dishes that we typically use there, so I never think about it!

Now that I’m thinking about it, though, I’m going to try to start using my Large Shallow and Large Deep dishes in the oven…mostly because they have those awesome lids so it’s a really easy way to store leftovers without getting an extra container dirty.

How do the Anyday lids work?

This is another very, very cool thing about these dishes. (I promise, I’m almost done fan girling over these!)

There’s a small silicone knob on the top of each lid. When you cook in the microwave, you open the knob to release steam. Here’s a picture of the knob open:

When you’re ready to store your food in the fridge, you close the airtight nob to keep your leftover fresh in the fridge (and make sure no smells escape from the dish into your fridge!). Here’s a picture of the knob closed:

Final verdict: is anyday cookware worth the cost?

If you value ease of use, helping the environment, and quick cleanup, then YES.

Also, if you’re a college student living in a dorm or a small apartment, you absolutely need to buy these.

If you’re someone who mostly eats meat that’s seared or browned, and you don’t often eat things like chicken breast, salmon, grains, and veggies, you probably wouldn’t use these too much. (But you might!)

If you want to experiment with a new method of microwave cooking, try out some recipes, and make your life a heck of a lot easier…you’re going to love them. Well worth the price tag, in my opinion.

You can just order a single dish, too! No need to get the entire set. I would start with this one and then if you love it, you could eventually get the full set.

^ I’d start with the large dish first. It’s great for a single chicken breast, a few strips of bacon, or a larger one-pot dish (seriously – there are so many recipes on the Anyday website. Go check them out!)
