Prost, y'all!
Nate and I took the boys to Wurstfest in New Braunfels on Monday night. Have you ever been?
Since New Braunfels is a town with a German heritage, it hosts a HUGE German festival every year. It’s basically like a state fair! They have multiple stages of live music, carnival rides, fair food like funnel cake and turkey legs, and then of course tons and tons of German food booths. There’s local artisans and shopping and other activities. It’s quite the event.

My sweet boy! We went on a Monday evening, and this little fella was such a perfect boy the entire time.

Since daylight savings ended this week, it was already dark when we arrived. Milo kept saying, “I still see a liiiittle bit of sun, so we can keep playing! Not bedtime yet!”

So much to see/point at! I’m pretty sure Milo is looking for the moon at this point. He always likes to keep it within sight…you know, just to make sure it doesn’t disappear on us.

Put an Oktoberfest beer in my hand and I’m happy! I had a Paulauner Oktoberfest and Nate drank a Hoffbrau Oktoberfest. They had these huge steins that a lot of folks were getting and they looked so fun! (Adding that to my list of things to do at Wurstfest when the kids are a bit older.)

A little 3-year-old wandered into my photo…

Authentic German…saxophones? 😉 I was thinking of how funny it would be if there was a town in Germany where a bunch of Texans had settled centuries ago, and so every year they celebrated “Cowboy-fest” and dressed up in hats and boots and ate BBQ and listened to honkey-tonk music in German. Haha.
The entire festival is just kind of goofy and fun. People get really into it with the attire! I was wrangling two babies so I just showed up in my regular clothes, but it would totally be fun to go on an adults-only trip to Wurstfest and wear a dirndl and get a full stein of beer and party!

But for this year, this kid was the party. He was sooo excited for that funnel cake!

Wurstfest is a big German festival in New Braunfels, about an hour south of Austin.
This year it’s running from Nov 4-13, 2022.

They have rides for the kiddos, face painting, shopping, lots of food…plenty to do! We were there with two babies so our evening mostly involved walking around, taking in the sites, convincing Milo to do a merry-go-round ride (he was adamant that the answer was NO. Haha. But we tried.)

A handsome man, a cute (sleepy) little baby. Wurstfest 2022 was so fun!
We loaded the boys up in the car and they fell asleep on the drive home. I love these sweet, simple, family memories.
