My parents visited last year, and my dad brought something that he said was his from HIGH SCHOOL.
(Now, if you know my dad, you know this isn’t a surprise. He loves to save things. He’ll often appear in a sweater that looks new to us, and the entire family will say, “wow dad, love that sweater!” to which he’ll respond, “oh thanks, I bought it 15 years ago. I’ve been saving it.”)
Anyway, here it is:
See that orange sheet that they’re playing on? That was my dad’s orange sheet in high school! (He said he also had an orange wall in his room.)
That night, I was changing into my comfies. Those are typically my pjs (at 7 pm…because it’s dark outside and I just want to be cozy!) or a pair of sweatpants + a long sleeve t-shirt. And I realized that one of my favorite and softest long sleeve tees is from…
…2005. That shirt is 17 years old!
How did that happen? In my head I just got that shirt a “few” years ago. I’ve tossed most of my high school and college swimming shirts, but this one has somehow stuck around.
Of course, I also have a few pieces of clothing that aren’t ratty t-shirts. 😉 I think of them as my investment pieces of clothing. I have a denim jacket I got at Nordstrom that I’ve worn for about 8 years now, and it’s still one of my favorite things I own.
Anyway, I’m curious if you have anything that’s been in your closet FOREVER that you still absolutely love?
Friends, I’m going to sign off for the rest of the week so I can enjoy Thanksgiving with my family! It’s truly my favorite holiday. I love the way the house smells so yummy all week, the jigsaw puzzle we always try to finish, holiday cocktails and board games, and the valuable family time. I’m going to be soaking up all the experiences with the people I love the most in this world.
