10 Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas For Toddler Boys

Halloween is SO cute with littles, especially as they transition from baby to toddler. They start to kind of “get it” and understand the concept of trick-or-treating, wearing a costume, and asking for candy. And seeing your little one all dressed up in their favorite character costume? THE CUTEST.

What’s not so fun is looking for costumes and realizing you’re going to spend eighty bucks on a costume they’ll probably wear for just a couple hours. So…here are a few of my favorite ideas for cheap halloween costume ideas for toddler boys!

Halloween Costume Ideas For Toddlers

*About me: I’m a mom to two little boys, so I’m on the hunt for reasonably priced Halloween costumes every year, too! I love investment pieces that my children will use for years and years…but let’s be honest. Halloween costumes are NOT that. This is a place where I’d prefer to save a bit of $. So here’s how I find my costumes.

10 Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas For Toddler Boys

1. Pumpkin Costume - under $10

This one is SO cute for little guys. It’s less than $10 and can be delivered on Amazon prime in 1 day!

2. Inflatable Dinosaure Costume - under $10

HILARIOUS and kids love this one! I’ve found that these inflatable costumes rarely last because they get a little hole in them and end up deflating, so it’s not really worth it to buy an expensive one. Just get this cheap $10 Halloween costume for your toddler boy and he’ll have a great time trick-or-treating on Halloween night!

3. Glow-In-The-Dark Skeleton Costume - $10

I mean…how fun would it be for your little one to GLOW?! These skeleton Halloween jumpsuits for toddler boys is insanely cheap, too.

4. Family Theme: Wizard Of Oz - $9

Family themes are SO cute, but if you’re dressing up 4 or 5 people, it can easily add up to hundreds of dollars. Here’s an idea: Wizard of Oz! You can get this cute scarecrow costume for under $10, and the lion and tin man costumes are also very inexpensive. That still leave Dorothy, Toto, Glinda, and the Wicked Witch of the West as costume options for other older family members.

5. Spooky Ghost Costume - $6

You know one of the wonderful things about young children? They have NO idea how much things cost.

I learned this because they often have way more fun going up and down the escalator at the airport that the actual vacation that I paid for.

So they’ll have no idea if this awesome ghost costume was $6 or $60…they’ll just have a blast wearing it and yelling “boo!”

6. Where’s Waldo? - $10

If your little one loves reading Where’s Waldo books, then this one is going to be a hit!

It’s hilarious to see little toddlers dressed up in the stripes, classic red beanie, and little red glasses. I’m obsessed with this costume.

7. Marvel Superheros - $3.50/each

This set of Marvel Superhero capes + masks would be so fun for a group of 4 year boys!

The entire set of 4 is just $14, which comes out to $3.50 per costume.

(Pair them with like-colored sweats or leggings and a long-sleeve shirt.)

9. Party City Costumes - about $20

Ok, two more ideas because these are actually SO inexpensive! One of my favorite places to look for costumes is Party City. They have a bunch of them, and they’re a lot cheaper than if you go someplace like a Halloween-specific store like Spirit Halloween. (I mean…those Halloween accessories always add up!

Anyway, if you have a Party City near you, it’s definitely worth popping in to see if you can find a cheap Halloween costume for your toddler boy!

10. Costco Costumes - about $35

If you have a Costco membership, this is one of the best spots to get the perfect costume for your toddler boy! They typically have about 10 different options in some of the most popular characters for that season.

There’s always a Spider-man costume, which is typically a big hit among toddler boys. And there will be a few other relevant movie and tv characters characters! It changes every year, but I’ve seen Paw Patrol, PJ Masks, Batman, Star Wars, Disney characters, and Harry Potter in the past.

Note that these are a little bit more pricey than the other ones I’ve mentioned, but the quality is also wayyy better. So if you’re looking for toddler costumes you can keep year-round for dress-up and such (or they have a little sibling you can pass it down to), Costco is an excellent option for cheap toddler Halloween costumes.

A note about DIY Halloween Costume ideas: I’ve found that they end up costing WAY more than purchasing a costume. The tutorials make it sound so easy, but then you end up going to the craft store, buying pool noodles and sturdy phone and big packs of construction paper and pom-poms, and then you have to get a hot glue gun and glue and before know it you’re spending $50 at Hobby Lobby to make a “cheap DIY costume.” So I’d rather just buy a $10 costume!

(I mean…if you’re just overflowing with creativity and you desperately want that perfect monster or toddler witch costume made from scratch…more power to ya! It’s just not my wheelhouse.)

Ok, good luck finding your toddler boy Halloween costumes! I’m literally running to Party City today to search for a transformers costume for my 4-year-old before they run out of toddler sizes!
