Wait, what? Week ELEVEN recap? This triathlon is getting so close!
Week 11 felt really, really good. My body feels strong right now! Granted, I still have a lot of training that needs to happen in the next 5 weeks to get ready for this olympic-distance tri…but overall, I’m having fun and getting strong, and that’s the whole point of this, right?
Week 11 Recap
I ran a 10k! I’m really glad I signed up for this race because it forced me to make sure I can actually run that far.
(It’s been a minute, y’all.)
I’m still swimming. Those workouts are starting to feel a teeny, teeny, teeeeeeeny bit easier.
I haven’t been on a bike yet. Full disclosure, ok? I’m still doing consistent workouts on the Peloton, but this week is the week I’m going to actually get on a bike. Like, outside of my house.
Something I loved from week 11:
Running the Cap10k was for sure a highlight!
It was a blast to do it with my sister Kylee, who’s going to do the triathlon with me.
It was also just fun to be at a race! I get so motivated from those race expo and finish line environments.
Something I hated from week 11:
It’s not something I hated, but more just something I’m realizing:
Triathlon training is taking up more and more of my time.
In the beginning stages of pre-training, back in January, I was just learning how to run again. My runs were 20 minutes long (10 minutes out and 10 minutes back) so I could easily squeeze it into my morning, shower, make coffee, and write in my gratitude journal, all before the boys woke up at 7 am.
Now that the runs are longer and there are brick workouts involved, training can take a couple hours! I’m also super aware of how much I need to stretch, cool down, and nourish my body with proper nutrition. All of that stuff takes TIME!
So I’m still really happy that I’m doing this tri, but I’m also incredibly aware of how much time it’s taking up. I have a few things in my life that have been neglected in the last few months because I’m putting my time toward training instead.
Short and sweet today, y’all! That’s week 11 of triathlon training!
