Brand New Brewery in Dripping Springs That’s Kid-Friendly!

One of my favorite weekend activities is frolicking around Austin (or, in yesterday’s case, the outskirts of Austin) and randomly popping into breweries and restaurants. I love exploring my own city!

I spent the better part of Sunday (yesterday) in Dripping Springs, which is just outside of Austin, near the far southwest corner of the city. There are still so many breweries and distilleries and restaurants in Dripping that I haven’t tried yet!

Of course, these days, with a baby on the way, I’m always scouring the city for kid-friendly places that are 1) serving delicious food and drinks, and 2) safe and welcoming for kids. It’s hard to find both of those things in the same establishment.

That’s why I was so happy when Nate and I stumbled upon a new brewery, 12 Fox Beer Co. As you can probably guess from the name, it was started by two army vets. The brewery is made up of a couple different structures (tap room, kids play place, food truck, bathrooms.) The tap room is a beautiful covered patio with fans and misters and it was such a relaxing place to city for a while on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Ok, but the playground is what completely blew me away! It’s a massive structure (and the owner told me it’s not even finished yet – they’re still going to add swings) that would be perfect for us in a few years when our baby is a young child who’s ready to burn some energy while mom and dad enjoy a flight of beer. Technically they call it a “tactical training center” but if I was a 5-year-old kid, I’d call it a playground. 🙂

Right now they have 3 beers on tap that they make, and 9 other taps of beer, mead, cider, and wine from guest brewers. They also offer concerts and live music, and apparently they have some beer baked goods coming next year.

I had teeny sips of all three beers, but Nate was able to be the true taste tester (lucky! 3 more months for me to go…) of two Belgians and one Saison, and he was a fan!

I wanted to put this place on your radar in case you’re looking for casual, relaxing places to enjoy good beer….and you have kids who often accompany you on your brewery visits.

Cheers!

That sounds awesome! I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in Dripping Springs. Also, I’m sure you already know about this one, but Family Business Beer Company in Dripping Springs is also family friendly! It was co-founded by Jensen Ackles (actor from Supernatural) and it has a huge outdoor area with play structures- I see kids there all the time! Would definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t already 🙂
