An Afternoon At Pikopye’s Town in Austin

Pikopye's Town in Austin

I love this place.

Pikopye’s Town is this cute little play land for kids in Austin. They set up a “town” with realistic shops like a diner (“Carby Lane..” haha), a hair salon, and an auto repair. It’s all sized for kids!

I brought Milo and Dayton for an afternoon play date. We’ve been three times now, and it just gets more and more fun as they get a bit older.

You have to reserve your two-hour time slot in advance, and they fill up weeks ahead of time! I’m really glad they’re opening a second location in Lakeway.

^Milo all ready to play! We were there about 5 minutes early, so we were the first ones inside. Since they require reservations, there’s a limited number of kids/parents during each play session. It never feels overwhelmingly crowded.

^ Dayton quickly found the slide and went down it 84,000 times. He is just pure delight and fun, this one!

It’s so cute watching their personalities emerge in play.

Milo wanted to take every single item off the grocery store shelf, load it in the cart, and then take every item out of the cart and put it on the picnic table.

Dayton wanted to take the other cart and RUN back and forth from one side of the play land to the other, pushing his cart full of groceries back and forth as fast as possible.

Two hours is the perfect amount of play time for these little ones. And I loooove that afternoon time slot! We’ve gone in the mornings, too, but I find that the 3-5 pm portion of the day is when time seems to draaaag and I start to feel exhausted. This is a fun way to fill the time.

I absolutely love these simple days with my babies.

PS: the identity shift of motherhood, because you can love motherhood AND you can miss the old life, too. It’s a both/and situation.
