Friday Night Music Night #2

Tonight’s music night was a little bit different…

I finished my time in DC with a bit more sight-seeing and restaurant-going, and then Erin drove me to College Park, Maryland to begin National Orchestra Institute!

NOI is a summer orchestral training program for undergrad/grad/post-grad students (ages 18-28). I’m here for 4.5 weeks, and we play 4 orchestra concerts and 1 chamber concerts….wowza. That’s a lot.

I won’t bore you with details, but if you wish to learn more about it, click right here:)

For tonight’s Friday Night Music Night, I had a 7-9 p.m. rehearsal on Stravinsky Danses Concertantes. Let me tell ya: this piece is no walk in the park. I literally had a headache when the rehearsal was over because the counting is so complicated! We had 15 minutes at the end of rehearsal and decided to listen to the piece in its entirety. Listen to the first minute or two, pretty please?

I. LOVE. MUSIC.

Today was exhausting yet incredible, all at the same time. I played for at least 8 hours and walked 4 miles, since my apartment is a mile from the music hall. Time to catch some Zzzzzzzzssss……
