Best Austin Happy Hours: North Austin

Barley Swine

They call it “Swine Time,” and it’s Barley Swine’s version of a happy hour. This Austin happy hour is AWESOME because it’s every day of the week (except Saturday) from 5-6:30. If you haven’t been to Barley Swine (or its sister restaurants, Odd Duck and Sour Duck Market), the Swine Time is a fun way to taste their small plates at a discounted rate. Food selection changes daily.

Andiamo

This sweet Italian restaurant has some of my favorite pasta in town. The restaurant itself is a bit outdated (I wish they would spruce it up a bit!), but the food is good enough that I keep coming back again and again, despite the carpet. 😉 While there’s not a regular happy hour, check the website for seasonal specials. As of now (summer 2018), they’re offering the following:

If a super chill sports bar is your thing, Cover 3’s happy hour special is right up your alley! They have multiple locations, so you can enjoy these specials in north Austin or in downtown Austin, Round Rock, and even San Antonio too!

Jack Allen’s

I love this Austin happy hour because you can really fill up on Jack Allen’s apps, and they’re all half off during happy hour! This is another restaurant that’s not only in north Austin (they have 4 locations), so you can enjoy these specials all over Austin/Round Rock. Be sure to order the pimiento cheese (it’s SOO yummy!) and the bacon-wrapped Texas quail.

T22

Put this Austin happy hour at the top of your list, because the bargains are AMAZING! (Plus, it’s some of the very best of the best fried chicken in Austin.) T22 has a bunch of $4 specials at their north Austin restaurant locations, including beer, cocktails, huge slices of pie, and an entire chicken thigh + a side for just 4 bucks.

– $4 bone-in chicken thigh with a side

Bufalina Due

Here’s the good news: the happy hour bites are FIVE DOLLARS (hi, that’s amazing) and the wine is also just five bucks. Here’s the sad news: pizza isn’t on the happy hour menu, and you have to order pizza when you go to Bufalina Due. However, I’m including Bufalina Due (and its sisters restaurant, Bufalina) because you can save some serious money on your alcohol by eating a bit earlier and still ordering a full price pizza!

Yard Bar

This one is for all the dog owners! Yard Bar is a sweet place to enjoy a cold (discounted) beer and some tasty food while letting your pup run around in the off-leash dog park.

Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is the sweetest little neighborhood bar/restaurant. I love it and wrote a full blog post about it here! The app duo and Royale Burger are both awesome for dinner if you don’t mind eating before 7 pm!

Be More Pacific

I hadn’t tried Filipino food until l went here, and I was immediately smitten! Every dish I tried at Be More Pacific (and I tried a lot of different dishes..) was packed with flavor. The cocktails are bright and fruity and fun before dinner.

Roaring Fork

This is a fun place if you need a comfy setting and some tasty drinks on any day of the week! I like that their happy hour goes a bit later than most (to 7 pm) and has $6 glasses of wine. There’s no food on the happy hour menu, but all of the appetizers are pretty reasonably priced in case you need to order some snacks for the table.
