GREAT news for your Monday: Native just launched a new happy hour, and it’s available ALL DAY on Mondays! This is a great happy hour for folks who are visiting Austin for a long weekend and need a chill place to hang out on Monday mornings/afternoons near downtown.

In case you’re not familiar with it, Native Kitchen & Bar is the restaurant at Native Hostel on E 4th Street, right by downtown Austin. It’s not your average hostel! This one is chic, clean, and a super trendy place to stay in Austin. It’s also a fraction of the cost of all the swanky hotels downtown. They have a cute coffee shop, one of my favorite brunches in Austin, a great lunch/dinner service, and (as of last month) a new happy hour menu!
^Curry Vegetable Egg Rolls are a great vegan option! Made with spiced seitan, mixed veggies, and served with a citrus chile sauce, these little guys are packed with flavor. $5 during happy hour!
^ Sambal Barbacoa Tostadas with samba braised beef, peanut salsa, cotiija, and papaya salad are fun Thai/Mexican fusion dish. I loved snacking on these while I was sipping on my margarita.
^ This margarita is $8 during happy hour. They use grapefruit bitters, which I absolutely love. There are 12 cocktails on the happy hour menu; each one is just $8!
I actually stopped by to try this happy hour on Saturday.. It’s not normally available then, but they made an exception for me so I could try it out and snap some photos. (My teaching schedule in the fall doesn’t allow me to go out and try normal happy hours.) THANK YOU, Native, for being so accommodating of my weird schedule!
I typically have to go out and get lots of my restaurant visits and photo shoots done on the weekends, then do photo editing/writing at home during the week. I have a little bit of a weird schedule these days, but I’m making it work because it is SO much fun. I refuse to complain about it, because blogging is a hobby, and a blessing. I also refuse to let myself feel stressed by it, because no one is ever making me do this! It’s a gift. I’m feeling extra thankful/giddy/excited/happy these days that I’m able to share all of these Austin eats with y’all.
