11 Autumn Chick Lit Books To Get You All Cozy

11 Cozy Autumn Chick Lit Books

Cozy autumn chick lit books...

They’re one of my favorite things about fall. I absolutely adore an autumn chick lit book…no shame here!

I’m talking rom-com, quick, cute little novels set in small New England towns where the leaves change and the #fallvibes are strong. (It might be because I live in Texas where fall is basically nonexistent…but I live for these autumn chick lit book!)

The days get shorter, the air gets colder, and everything just gets exciting! I love to turn on my fireplace, curl up on my couch under a cozy blanket, and dive into a fall-themed chick lit book.

Full disclosure: these are not “smart reading” books. These are books for moments when you just want to shut off your brain and relax and enjoy a cute story.

11 Autumn Chick Lit Books To Get You All Cozy

1. Morbidly Yours by Ivy Fairbanks

Kicking it off with a steamy romance! This one is about…a mortician. Ha! But don’t let that be off putting, because it’s actually VERY cute and romantic. Oh, and the female lead in this book is from Texas, which is maybe why I felt an instant connection to her?

I’m hoping Ivy Fairbanks writes more books soon! They’re calling this one #1 of the Love in Galway series, which tells me more are coming eventually…

2. Out On A Limb by Hannah Bonaum Young

The meet cute for this one is at a Halloween Party, so it’s totally seasonally appropriate if you’re looking for a cute fall read! I think the characters in this one are just SO cute and loveable, and the story line deals with some real life issues, too.

But overall, let’s be honest…this is just a light, quick read that’s so cozy for autumn. Chick-lit, Halloween, cute…check, check, check!

3. Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham

I’m not quite sure why I always think “autumn” with this book, because while it’s set in New York City in the 1990s, it’s not set in the fall. Maybe it’s because it’s written by Lauren Graham, who plays Lorelai in Gilmore Girls, and I always think of that tv show as a #fallvibes show.

Regardless, this book is SO cute and the perfect little chick lit book to read this autumn! It subtly follows Lauren Graham’s own journey of being an up-and-coming actress in the 90s and all the hustle it took to get there. It’s an adorable little fiction book, and it’s best enjoyed with a cup of hot tea and a cozy fireplace nearby.

4. Payback’s A Witch by Lana Harper

Keeping with the Halloween theme, Payback’s a Witch is the first book in a series, so if you love it, you’ll have more to read. It’s a New York Times Bestselling book, but…it’s still fluff, y’all. It’s cute and witch-y and everything you need for a Halloween rom-com book to read in October.

5. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Another BookTok that has grown wildly popular, I think that The Love Hypothesis is the perfect Autumn chick lit romance novel. It’s about a PhD student who is trying to convince her best friend that her dating life is going just fine, thank you, so she picks a young hotshot (aka HOT) professor.

Y’all, I’m writing this and I’m just like eye roll… Yes, it’s cheesy, ok? It’s also cute and light and fun. If you need the perfect little romance novel to breeze through this season, grab The Love Hypothesis.

6. You Deserve Each Other By Sarah Hogle

This one reminds me a little bit of the movie How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (my all-time FAVORITE rom-com movie.) It’s a lovers-as-enemies sort of plot where both lead roles are in a head-to-head subtle battle to see who will give up and leave the engagement first…not wanting to be the first to go and have to foot the planned wedding bill.

Is it kind of silly? Yes. Is it light and fun and autumn-y? YES! It’s cute! I loved this one as a quick evening read curled up under a cozy throw by the fireplace.

7. Getting It On With Gargoyles by Hazel Mac

There are witch-y romances, and then there are…monster romances? Yep! Getting It On With Gargoyles is the first book in a series, so if you love books like the Twilight Series with female leads falling in love with slightly dangerous other-worldly (super sexy) creatures, you’ll probably like this one.

8. September by Rosamunde Pilcher

This is a longer book than a lot of the other quick romance books I’ve shared here, so if you love to settle in and read one book all season, this might be a fun one for you. Set in Scotland and titled September, I was instantly hooked on this book. (But truthfully, most of the book is a lead up to the main event, the dance, which happens in September. I’m just sharing that to keep your expectations in check!)

It’s quaint, beautifully written (I love all the Scotland descriptions – swoon!) and full of lots of interesting characters and surprises…

9. Between by L.L. Starling

Another fantasy fall series for ya! Between is the first book in the Chronicles of Between series. It’s definitely in the “fantasy” genre, so if you love sorcerers and witches and other-worldly things, you’ll love these books.

And since we’re talking about chick lit here…yes, there’s some steamy romance in this novel!

10. The Little Shop Of Found Things By Paula Brackston

Antique shops, a small English village, ghosts, and a quest for good over evil…it’s just a fun read during the month of October or November! There’s a component of time travel in this book, but not in an annoying and confusing way.

11. The Ex Hex (Trilogy) By Erin Sterling

One more paranormal witch book, because this one is also very quick to read and a fun one to have on hand during Halloween week. It’s definitely more “treat” than “trick” and has a bit of spookiness to it (family witches dealing with witch-y stuff), but it’s not a “scary” book by any means.

Also, the third book in this trilogy was released in October 2024, so it’s officially available for Halloween chick lit consumption! You can read The Ex Hex (#1), The Kiss Curse (#2), and and The Wedding Week (#3) to get your witchy paranormal romance fix.

Cheers, friends! Hope that these books sparked your desire to read some cute little novels this autumn. I love reading year-round, but there’s something about reading when the weather gets cold that just makes me extra excited to crack open a new book.
