Where To Enjoy Holiday Cocktails in Austin

December has some of my favorite flavors: clove, vanilla, allspice, and nutmeg. Thankfully, these spices pair perfectly with all sorts of fun holiday cocktails!

Austin’s restaurant scene has a delectable offering of festive drinks to enjoy this month! Yay, lucky us! Take a look at what I’ve found around town, and if I left something out, add to the list in the comments section:

1. Taverna

Taverna is a sweet little pizza restaurant on 2nd street downtown. They have a darling outdoor patio, which I love for eating, chatting, and people watching! Try the Partridge in a Pear Tea: Earl Grey Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey, Paula’s Texas Orange Liqueur, Spiced Pear Reduction, lemon and a dash of Jerry Thomas Bitters served in a coupe glass with a turbinado sugar rim. It has just a hint of holiday spices, but I’d honestly love this one at any time of year!

2. El Chipiron

Getting fancy with the presentation! El Chipiron serves their Tejano in a smoked glass. It’s made with dripping springs gin, mediterranean tonic, rosemary, orange, lime, star anise, and peppercorn. Fancy means festive!

3. Freedmen’s

Here’s an idea for a group date: the Gold Dollar at Freedmen’s. Bullet 10 Year Bourbon, Ron Zacapa 23 year, dry curacao, smoked pineapple syrup, lime, grapefruit. It’s $60, which isn’t so bad since it serves 2-4 people. (Depending on how much holiday cheer you need, *wink wink*….)

4. Contigo

One of my favorite brunch spots in Austin has a whole selection of warm holiday drinks! The Contigo coffee, classic hot toddy, apple cider, and housemate hot chocolate can be made boozy or non-alcoholic, so everyone wins!

6. Irene’s

Irene’s is a popular, casual, downtown hangout. They’re offering a Santa’s Little Helper and it’s full of all of my favorite things: eggnog, bourbon, whiskey, and nutmeg. Cheers!

7. St. Genevieve

Oh my goodness…how much fun is THIS? St. Genevieve is serving their Snickering Pumpkin Adult Milk and Cookies this holiday season: Snickerdoodle cookies served with Patron XO Pumpkin Spice Adult Milk (Pumpkin cinnamon spice infused with heavy whip cream blended with Frangelico Hazelnut liqueur, Stoli Vanilla, and Patron XO Cafe). For people that like a little kick,  St. Genevieve  may blend it with Patron Inciendo.

8. 24 Diner

Austin’s favorite late night diner is serving up this tasty Boozy Pumpkin Pie Milkshake made with dark rum, pumpkin pie, cinnamon spice. Slurping holiday cheer through

This one is a bargain! Head to Easy Tiger during Whiskey Wendesdays, and get their Bourbon Toddy for just $5 from 4:30 pm – close. It’s a delectable blend of honey clove syrup, black iced tea, lemon juice, and orange bitters. How cozy! Perfect for these cold days we’ve been getting recently.
